Bhubaneswar: In good news for flyers, direct international flight services will kick start from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar from March 27, informed Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials today.

AirAsia launch its services to Kuala Lumpur from Bhubaneswar from March 27 for which the airliner has obtained all necessary clearances.

According to AAI sources, in the preliminary stages, international operations will be limited to Kuala Lumpur but will extended to Dubai, Bangkok and Middle Eastern countries subsequently.

“AirAsia has announced that from March 27 it will start its direct services from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur. It will give more international options to passengers,” said AAI’s regional executive director, Sanjay Jain.

‘We are now certain that AirAisa will begin its direct international services by end of March or beginning of April. The airliner has confirmed it,” said chief secretary, Aditya Padhi.
