Rourkela: Protesting the delay in developmental projects in Rourkela, senior BJP leader Dilip Ray has decided to boycott the party’s own ‘Vikas Utsav’ rally to be addressed by Union minister of Steel and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday.

Ray criticized the delay in improvement of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notably, Modi had promised to convert the IGH into a multi specialty hospital. However, according to Ray, the work which should have been completed in two months is yet to be completed even after 14 months.

Alleging that Modi’s directive is not being properly implemented, Ray has decided to boycott the rally.

“The work on IGH to convert it to a super specialty hospital has only progressed to the extent of the appointment of an consultant in 14 months. The consultant has submitted a feasibility report which is yet to be given to the SAIL board. The work is not being done at the speed at which it should be. This has created a confusion among the public, which feels that the we are delaying the work. I am also totally disappointed that despite PM’s directive, the work is getting delayed,” said Dilip Ray.

Reacting to Ray’s allegations, Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram said “PM had announced two projects. The tender for the bridge on the national highway was closed yesterday and work on it will begin soon. As far as IGH is concerned, the work has slowed down a bit but super specialty services is already being discharged from a clinic with the help of a doctor who is visiting the hospital from Hyderabad. Even we are concerned about the delay, but the work has started in a way.”

“We will try and convince Ray to join the rally,” said Oram.
