Keonjhar/Bhawanipatna: As many as 40 persons from Keonjhar and Kalahandi districts have been affected by diarrhoea. While 30 persons are in the grip of the disease in Keonjhar, 10 from Kalahandi have also been reportedly affected.

According to reports, in Keonjhar, 30 persons took ill following some infection allegedly due to intake of contaminated river water. Local sources said in the absence of proper treatment of the piped drinking water from nearby Kusei River, the infection has been spreading. Meanwhile, all the patients are currently undergoing treatment at the Anandpur hospital.

Similarly, in Kalahandi, diarrhoea cases were reported from Kuturimali village of Thuamul Rampur area after 10 persons complained of loose motion and vomiting. A team of health officials have reached the spot to assess the situation.
