Cuttack: Notorious gangsters Dhalasamant brothers (D-brothers) were produced by the Commissionerate Police before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Friday in a case of seizure of arms from residences of their aides.

While the aides of the D-brothers, Solesh Sahu alias Sangram Routray, were produced in the SDJM court, other accused deposed via videoconferencing.

Elder brother Sushant Dhalasamnt was brought from Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar amid tight security whereas younger sibling Sushil Dhalasamant was taken from Balasore jail for appearance in the court.

This is the last time the D-brothers were produced in the SDJM court as the next hearing of the cases involving the criminal siblings will take place at the Sessions court.

Notably, the Cuttack SDJM court on Thursday had upheld its previous order on the shifting of notorious Dhalasamant brothers (D-brothers) from the Choudwar Circle Jail.

Following a directive from the Orissa High Court to reconsider the order, the Cuttack SDJM court reviewed its earlier order in which it had asked jail officials in March to shift Sushant Dhalasamant and Sushil Dhalasamant to Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar and Balasore jail, respectively.

The high court had scrapped the SDJM court order on shifting of the criminal siblings while hearing a petition filed by the D-brothers and asked the lower court to reconsider the case.
