Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has assured the oil marketing companies (OMC) of all kind of assistance to prevent pilferage of oil and gas in the state.

The assurance was given by DGP R P Sharma yesterday while presiding over the the first on Shore Co-ordination Committee meeting on security of oil and gas companies. The DGP is Chairman of the On shore Co-ordination Committee.

"It was decided unanimously to have regular patrolling as well as periodic joint patrolling of pipe line and nearby vulnerable areas with the assistance of local police," Sharma said.

Regular raids by local police will be undertaken to stop en-route pilferage of oil tankers at the supply locations, he said adding that police patrolling to be intensified by local police at the supply locations.

Illegal encroachments will also be removed as and when necessary in and around the supply locations, he said.

The meeting also discussed on constitution of a dedicated task force for co-ordination and analysis of all incidents and information available with various police stations in the state and with police of neighbouring states were also discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Odisha government, CRPF, SIB and OMCs like IOCL, HPCL and BPCL.
