Jharsuguda: A ten-member team of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) from Delhi and Kolkata reviewed the construction work of Jharsuguda Airport today.

The team comprising Joint Director General of DGCA, DK Mahanta arrived at Jharsuguda today and reviewed the ongoing construction of runway, terminals and taxiways at the airport, said sources.

Mahanta informed that 90 per cent of work is over and the inspection reports will soon be submitted to the concerned authorities.

“During earlier inspection, we had pointed out some observations. This time, we reviewed whether the observations have been mitigated or not,” said Mahanta.

“The DGCA will take a decision on when the proposed airport will be made operational. Some paperwork is pending which will be mentioned in our inspection report,” he added.

“A ten-member DGCA team from Kolkata reviewed the runway, terminals, apron, taxiways and buildings at the airport. We have complied with all the observations pointed out by the DGCA,” informed Director of Jharsuguda Airport, Loknath Padhi.

“We have fulfilled all requisites. We expect to get an aerodrome licence for the airport after the team submits its report to the DGCA,” he added.
