Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of fog shrouded the entire Capital affecting vehicular traffic during the morning hours today.

While the cold conditions continued to prevail in various parts of the state including the western and interior Odisha, dense fog gave the road commuters in the Capital a tough time this morning. Visibility was recorded at 20 metres. People were seen driving their vehicles slowly and turning their headlights on. This is said to be the thickest fog of the season so far. Similar foggy condition was witnessed earlier on December 31 though not in all parts of the Capital.

According to MeT officials the foggy condition would continued to prevail tomorrow. The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 16 degree Celsius on Sunday. Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters town of Kalahandi, turned out to be the coldest place in the State with the mercury settling at 6.7 degrees Celsius.
