Death of humanity: Woman dies after being stripped & poisoned

Kendrapara: In what can be termed as an inhuman and dastardly act, a woman was stripped and beaten to death by a group of people here in the district on Wednesday.

According to sources, the incident occurred in a village under Jambu police limits on Wednesday when a group of men, allegedly stripped a woman in a public place, attacked and beat her up by drowning her in water. The cruelty however did not stop there as they forcefully made her drink poison after she managed to survive the ordeal.

As soon as the family of the woman was informed about the incident, all of them rushed to eventually find her in a field in an unconscious state.

Rescued, the woman was initially rushed to the Ramnagar Medical and died while being shifted to Kendrapara DHH.

Marine police began investigation into the incident after a complaint was lodged by the woman's son.

However alleging police inaction, the family said even after 48 hours of the crime, none of the persons involved has been arrested.

Meanwhile, Marine Police IIC Pradyumna Nayak said," The incident was reported almost after 24 hours which allowed the accused enough time to abscond. All efforts are on to nab the culprits. We raided a place yesterday and continuous raids will be carried out to nab all of them.”
