Keonjhar: Anandpur sub-divisional hospital here today witnessed an unpleasant scene as a dead body remained unattended for over 20 hours since doctors declared him dead.

The family members of the deceased alleged that they have not been handed over the body in absence of police.

"We are waiting till police reach the hospital. We spent sleepless night yesterday to guard the body," a relative of the deceased said.

Police said they received the information late on Sunday."We came to know about the matter in the afternoon yesterday. But, we could not conduct the post-mortem at night. So, we came in the morning," Soso police ASI Dukhabandhu Nayak said.

The deceased, a resident of Sundarapala under Soso police limits in the district, drowned in a water body near the village on Sunday. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, doctors declared him dead at around 2 pm yesterday.
