Bhubaneswar: Implementation of direct benefit transfer (DBT) for kerosene subsidy will undertaken in Odisha by Mar 2017, said Food Supplies Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra today.

Talking to newsmen, Mohapatra said, “In the first phase, the DBT for kerosene subsidy will be put into effect in 110 urban local bodies of the State. Later the developed blocks and districts will be brought under the scheme followed by the tribal-dominated districts of the State.”

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already given a go-ahead to the Food and Civil Supplies department to implement the DBT for kerosene subsidy in the State.

The Food Supplies Secretary also informed paddy procurement will begin in between November 15 and 20 in some of the western districts of the State.

A taskforce led by district collector will monitor the paddy procurement process which was decided by the preparatory meeting held under chairmanship of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) recently.
