Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP vice president Sameer Mohanty on Saturday charged Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Dasburma with having links with chit fund company\ies and taking undue advantage of his power and authority to help his acquaintances acquire government land.

In a press meet here in Bhubaneswar, Mohanty said “Minister Dasburma has amassed significant assets with money earned from the chit fund companies. The money for ‘Sarbasadharana’ newspaper owned by him was taken from a chit fund company SLB Media and Entertainment Private Limited, which transferred it to Team Media & Hospitality Private Limited in which Dasburma was a director. In 2009, when Dasburma was the chairman of the Odisha State Housing Board, he showed undue favors to the publisher of the Sarbasadharana newspaper, Satyapriya Jaysingh, and allotted it a house in Bhubaneswar. This proves that Dasburma and his family members amassed huge wealth from the chit fund business. Moreover, in 2009, Dasburma misused his authority and helped Sarbasadharana to acquire 500 decimals of IDCO land in Chandrasekharpur area. The said land was given to Team Media, which publishes Sarbasadharana. The IDCO land, which was meant to help unemployed youth to set up entrepreneurial ventures, has been misutilised by Dasburma by wielding his authority and influence.”

“We demand that these facts should also be brought under the purview of CBI probe. We are ready to present the documents before the central investigation agency,” Mohanty added.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP and Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) chief Pyari Mohan Mohapatra commenting on the allegations said, “If Dasburma is being linked with chit fund, then he is a small fish. There are bigger names involved in this scam.”
