Bhubaneswar: Food Supply and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Das Burma’s brother-in-law Satyapriya Jayasingh appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here today in connection with the Artha Tatwa (AT) group chit fund scam.

Notably, the central investigating agency had served a notice to Jayasingh to appear before it on August 8 to record his statement under Section 160 of the CrPC. However, he had informed the agency that he would appear after August 10.

The notice was served on the basis of the information extracted by CBI during interrogation of AT Group chief Pradip Sethy at the Jahrpada jail here recently that Jayasingh’s company Team Media Hospitality Private Limited had received substantial amounts of money from the AT group.

The CBI would ask Jayasingh, who is the director of the Team Media Hospitality Private Limited, about the total amount of money transacted between the two firms, the mode of transaction and whether the money was transferred to any other firms owned by him.

He would be called for interrogation again if needed, sources said.
