Daily wager found dead inside rented house in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouds the death of a person whose body was recovered from his rented house in Unit-4 under Kharavela Nagar police station here today.

The deceased, identified as Gopal Maharana is a daily wage labourer.

The matter came to fore at around 8.30 am this morning after another labourer from Salia Sahi here went to Gopal's house and found Maharana lying on the floor.

“When we heard the labourer shouting, 20 of us rushed to see what happened. The body of Gopal was lying on the floor. There were injury marks on the body while his throat, palm and stomach had deep cuts. There was also a sharp weapon close to his body which we suspect is the murder weapon,” one of Gopal’s relative said.

Getting information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and initiated an investigation into the incident. However, it has not been ascertained whether Gopal was murdered or has committed suicide.

"We found injury marks in his body. We have also called the scientific team. The body has been sent for post mortem and we can only reveal anything after getting the report," said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
