Dadagiri in khaki: Cops rough up accused in front of court

Kandhamal: Sometimes police personnel switch on to a dadagiri mode considering themselves as the final authority to act as per their whims and fancies. Some cops just proved this when they thrashed two minors accused of theft in front of a court in Baliguda of Kandhamal district here on Saturday.

Sources said the two minors who were brought in an escort for presentation before the court here in connection with a theft case were beaten black and blue by some cops.

The exact reason for the open display of ‘dadagiri’ is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, after they were presented in the court, the minors have been sent to a juvenile home at Berhampur.

Sources said the two accused were arrested for stealing from the house of one Shyamsundar Patra on July 7.
