Dacoity bid foiled; 4 of family injured in attack

Subarnapur: Four members of the family of Bahalpadar sarpanch were attacked by armed miscreants during a dacoity bid late last night in the district.

The injured were rushed to the Birmaharajpur sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to the Burla hospital for better treatment.

Informing media about the incident, Prafulla Patra, Subarnapur SP, said, “At around 1.30 am, 10 armed robbers entered the sarpanch’s house in an attempt to loot valuables. When sarpanch’s father raised an alarm, neighbours woke up and came to their rescue.”

Patra further stated during a brief scuffle between the family members and dacoits, the latter opened fire leaving four members of the family injured. Later, they managed to flee the spot after looting two mobiles.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.
