Dacoity bid foiled, 3 arrested in Jeypore

Koraput: Police on Tuesday foiled a dacoity attempt and arrested three members of a gang of five from Jeypore in Koraput district on Tuesday.

As per sources, the gang had earlier looted more than 48 mobile phones from an outlet in Jeypore following which a complaint was lodged against them at Jeypore Town Police station.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the spot they were planning the loot bid. While two of them managed to give a slip, the cops arrested three dacoits and recovered 20 mobile phones and seized Rs 6000 cash from them. This apart, a few sharp weapons were also seized from their possession.

"All the arrested are hardcore criminals and several cases are pending against them, while search is on to nab the absconding members," said a police official. He added, "The three arrested have been forwarded to court. Further investigation is on."
