Dacoits loot Rs 5 lakh, gold jewellery at gun point

Anadapur: In a daring robbery, 10 dacoits looted Rs 5 lakh in cash and 100 grams of gold jewellery at gun point in Belabahali village under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district late on Wednesday night.

According to sources, the group of dacoits entered Uchhaba Sahu’s house breaking the gate at around 1:30 am. They targeted Sahu at gun point and attacked his wife with a machete before decamping with the valuables, the sources added.

“As many as 10 miscreants forcefully entered my house at around 1:30 am when we were sleeping. They targeted me at the gun point and covered my face with clothes. Later, they tied my hands and legs,” Sahu said.

“The miscreants looted Rs 5 lakh in cash and 100 to 120 grams of gold jewellery kept inside the almirah. They also attacked my wife with a machete when she tried to resist,” Sahu added.

Pratima, wife of Sahu, sustained injuries on her head and arms in the attack. She was rushed to Anandapur hospital, sources said.

“The miscreants looted all the valuables at gun point. They tied my husband and asked me to give them the almirah key. When I refused, they attacked me. They fled with the cash and jewellery,” the injured Pratima said,

On being informed about the incident, Ghasipura police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter.
