Berhampur: Vigilance officials today raided the houses of Chinmaya Tripathy, junior engineer at the Ganjam unit of Roads and Buildings (R&B) division-II on charges of acquisition and possession of property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Under the direction of the Special Vigilance Judge, officials of the anti-corruption wing conducted simultaneous raids at three places, including his house here, in-laws’ house at Gajapatinagar and office at Kama Palei in the district.

So far, the officials have detected bank passbooks of Rs 10 crores and fixed deposits of over Rs 10 lakhs in his name. The exact amount of the disproportionate assets would be revealed after completion of the search, said Surendranath Panigrahi, Vigilance DSP of Paralakhemundi unit under Berhampur Vigilance Division.
