D-brothers' link found in Cuttack firing case: DCP

Cuttack: Sushant Dhal Samant had planned the attack on one Bijay Kumar Pal after he denied to pay extortion, informed Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh on Sunday.

Singh further informed that the prime accused Mrutyunjay Nayak alias Miku had fired at Pal with an intention of killing him on the direction of Sushant Dhal Samanta, who is now cooling his head inside Jharpara jail.

"Sushant Dhal Samant had hired Miku to eliminate Bijay Pal after he denied to pay extortion," said Singh.

Singh further informed that Bijay was earlier working for gangster brothers- Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samanta after money flow was stopped.

On February 23, Miku had called Pal outside his house at Subhadrapur for some discussion and later fired at him.

However, Pal had a close shave as he ran towards the corner after Miku took out a pistol from his waist and opened fire.

Senior officials of Commissionerate Police informed that Miku, who was arrested in connection with a murder case, had earlier come in contact with Sushant Dhal Samanta at Jharpara jail.

Sushant had helped Miku to get bail with a condition to eliminate some people on his behalf after his release from jail on February 20, police said.

Meanwhile, police have seized two pistols and 29 rounds of live bullets from Miku and further investigation to nab another associate is on, Singh added.
