Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police today submitted a charge sheet against six persons in a local court in the Om murder case, a day before the scheduled date.
The 454-page charge sheet, filed against six persons including Sushil Dhalasamant and Sushant Dhalasamant, has 59 witnesses. Under Section 302, 120(B), 201, 484 and 34 of IPC along with the Arms Act 25 and 27, the charge sheet was submitted against the six persons.
The investigating team has kept the case open.
Talking to media persons, Biswajit Baral, Assistant Public Prosecutor, said, “Today the charge sheet in the case of murder of Om alias Om Prakash Swain was submitted one day ahead of the schedule. The charge sheet is submitted in the court against Sushant Dhalasamant, Sushil Dhalasamant, Bhajana alias Sanjay Kumar Sahu, Guddu alias debasish sahu, Nirmal rout and Debasish Kar.”
As per the charge sheet, the arrested Dhalasamant brothers and their aides had kidnapped Om and Dipu from their houses and later beaten them to death inside a farm house owned by businessman Nirmal Rout at Khuntakata near Athagarh. Later they had taken the bodies to Jharkhand and burnt them to destroy evidence.
The commissionerate police which in its earlier charge sheet had named 14 accused in Dipu murder case, is most likely to mention equal number of people in the charge sheet in the Om murder case, sources said.
