Cuttack: In a bid to curb the rise in cyber crimes, the state government will set up the second cyber police station in Bhubaneswar very soon. Besides, a Cyber Forensic Division will be commissioned by March next year, informed Crime Branch Special DGP BK Sharma here today.

Briefing newsmen after a meeting on cyber crime held here, Sharma said, “We are trying to provide our police officials with the technical know-how on cyber crime investigation and forensics. Besides, as their is possibility of rise in online fraud due to excess use of card, e-banking and mobile banking in the coming day, the cops were also sensitized on the various technical skills to probe such crimes. We had invited some ICICI bank officials from Kolkata to sensitise the cops on various online frauds due to card transaction.”

A Cyber Forensic Division at the Cyber Forensic Laboratory would be commissioned by March. The facility would help accelerate the cyber forensic examination process in the state, he added.

Around 70 police officials of 36 police districts attended the meeting held at the police headquarters here. The meeting had discussion on how to curb the possible online fraud due to cashless transaction. A large number of bank officials also attended the meeting.
