CRPF jawan found dead with gunshot wounds

Angul: A jawan was found dead with gunshot wounds on chest at Chheliapada CRPF camp in the district today. He has been identified as Mihir Das from Kendrapara district.

Das was in charge of arms and ammunition store at the camp. The fellow jawans heard noise of firing in the store at around 6 am today and rushed to the spot only to find the bullet ridden body of the jawan.

They immediately shifted him to district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Angul police and senior CRPF officials rushed to the spot and started investigation.

It is not yet known whether Das committed suicide or the firing is accidental. “The bullet was from an AK-47 rifle. We have informed his family members about the death and seized the body for post-mortem. The nature of the death can only be ascertained after inquiry,” Angul IIC Subash Chandra Sahoo said.
