Bolangir: Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Kamal Kant today said the ongoing construction of the proposed 189 Battalion in Bolangir district has a strategic advantage to effectively counter Maoist threat.

Talking to media persons after paying his maiden visit to the district after taking charge of his new assignment, Kamal Kant said he has come here to see the ongoing construction work of the proposed Battalion. “I have been recently posted as the CRPF IG. After taking charge of my new assignment, I have come here to meet my colleagues here,” he added.

He also said the location, where the construction work of the CRPF Battalion is going on, has a strategic advantage. “Keeping this in view, I have specifically come here to discuss our future course of action against the left wing extremism in this area. The state government is reviewing the Maoist activities in Bolangir district and is in constant touch with us,” Kamal Kant pointed out.

After visiting the construction site, the CRPF IG had a meeting on Maoist activities with the district Superintendent of Police.

The district police had made elaborate security arrangements during the visit of Kamal Kant.
