Criminal linked to gangster Tito nabbed after encounter in Cuttack

Cuttack: Further intensifying its crackdown on anti-socials ahead of the festive season, Commissionerate Police on Tuesday nabbed dreaded criminal Sk Rahul in an encounter in Cuttack.

Sk Rahul aka Sabir (21) of Dargha Bazar was arrested this evening after a brief encounter near Chahata area in Cuttack. According to sources, Rahul works for Md Shakil who is said to be one of the close associates of gangster Tito.

DCP Akhileswar Singh said that acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted Rahul who then fired at the special squad with a 9MM pistol.

The special squad then retaliated with a controlled fire which hit Rahul’s right thigh. Rahul who was injured in the encounter was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital and his condition is said to be stable.

Several cases are pending against Rahul at different police stations in Cuttack.

This is the second police encounter in the last 20 days in Cuttack. Notorious criminal Raghunath Das was arrested after a shootout on August 15.
