Criminal, cops injured in exchange of fire in Berhampur

Berhampur: A wanted criminal Mohan Rao and two police officials of Sadar police limits were injured during an exchange of fire between them in Berhampur on Friday night.

Rao was involved in several organised crimes and 17 cases are pending against him at various police stations. A pistol has been recovered from Rao's possession.

According to reports, a police team had raided Jhadankuli area after getting information about Rao, who had assembled at the spot with a few other miscreants and were planning for some dacoity.

On seeing the police team, Rao and his accomplices tried to escape by firing at the cops.

The inspector-in-charge and sub-inspector of Sadar police station have also been injured after miscreants hurled bombs at them.

Mohan Rao has also sustained bullet injuries on his legs and is now undergoing treatment at the hospital.
