Bhubaneswar:  A special team of Crime Branch (CB) led by a DSP rank officer has begun investigation into the gang rape and death of the Kunduli girl.

The CB officials who reached Kunduli last night will visit the hospital, where the girl was admitted for treatment and the Pottangi police station for a detailed investigation.

On the other hand, the BJP has formed a three-member team to probe the incident that has sparked political outcry in the State. The team led by party’s national general secretary Saroj Pandey will visit Koraput to conduct an on-the-spot investigation and submit a report to party chief Amit Shah.

Meanwhile, a PIL was filed in Orissa High Court yesterday seeking a high-level judicial probe into the Kunduli gang rape incident and stern action against all officers found guilty of dereliction of duty.

On the other hand, the BJP Mahila Morcha will observe Sankalp Divas tomorrow to mark the 10th day of Kuduli gang rape victim’s suicide. They would offer prayers at several temples in its 1002 Mandals across the State.

“The BJP’s women wing will continue its fight and stage agitation until and unless the Kunduli victim gets justice,” said Morcha president Prabhati Parida.
