Bhubaneswar: A training session for police officials on tricks and techniques to treat victims of  accident or any untoward situation via Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted at Biju Patnaik Police Academy here on Thursday.

“It gives us a sense of satisfaction If we are able to save someone’s life. It can be considered as the highest purpose one can have,” said Director of Biju Patnaik Police Academy Manoj Chabra.

The training session mainly dealt with the process that should be followed for treatment of a heart attack victim.

“We usually deal with accidents and other untoward situations on regular basis. By getting such training, we will be well prepared to save someone’s life if situation arises in future,” Shraddha Nayak, a trainee Cadet.

US-based Biologist Suchismita Swain imparted the training to around 300 Sub-Inspectors and 22 cadets.

“When a man does not respond or breathe it means his heart beat has stopped. It takes 10 minutes for a brain to die. So before brain death if the patient could be revived by using CPR techniques, the chance of survival of the patient increases,” said Swain.
