Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the release of gangster Raja Acharya, the prime convict in murder of Judo coach and Budhia Singh’s trainer Biranchi Das, the Commissionerate Police (CP) today approached the Supreme Court to impose strict conditions on his bail.
After Supreme Court granted bail to Raja, Biranchi's wife Gitanjali Panda had alleged threats over her life and five other witnesses while demanding security cover for all.
Actresses Leslie Tripathy and Bidusmita also had apprehended threat to their lives if Raja comes out of jail.
It may be mentioned that Raja was able to get bail from the apex court on March 10. He was accused of murdering Biranchi Das on April 13, 2008 over his one sided love affair with Leslie.
The same year, Badagada police, where the murder case was registered, arrested Raja from Goa. Later, in 2011, Bhubaneswar District and Sessions Court convicted Raja in the case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
