Bhubaneswar: A member of an interstate medicine robbery gang was nabbed by the Commissionerate Police at Ruchika Market in the Capital city today.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sonu Panda. During interrogation Sonu revealed about a medicine godown in a rented house at Ruchika Market from where they were operating. The police recovered two pistols and four live bullets during a raid at the godown. The bullets are suspected to be property of an Ordnance warehouse.

It was revealed that the gang has looted medicine amounting to Rs 17 lakh from a stock of Rs 56 lakh that had arrived by train to Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

The gang was also found to be active in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.

On the other hand, as per Commissionerate Police sources another person of the gang has been arrested at Raniganj in West Bengal. A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) is scheduled to depart for West Bengal today for further probe.

Police also came to know about involvement of the gang members in a murder case in Ganjam. While some members of the gang are still at large, a probe has been initiated by the police to nab them.
