Couple shot at for resisting loot attempt

Jajpur: Two bike-borne miscreants shot at a man and his wife near Tilpada under Bairi police limits of Jajpur district today when the couple resisted the duo’s attempt to rob them.

As per sources, a man identified as Kabi, a resident of Sribantapur, was returning with his wife and minor daughter on a motorcycle from his in-laws house in Raijhar when the miscreants stopped them near Tilpada and tried to snatch their gold ornaments.

Kabi tried to fight off the miscreants when they shot at him due to which  he sustained bullet injuries in his chest. Later, the miscreants took away his chain and his wife's jewellery.

Jajpur SDPO and IIC of Bairi police station reached the spot after getting information. All the nearby police stations have been alerted and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.

Meanwhile, Kabi has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His condition is stated to be critical.
