Jeypore: After a wait of 27 years, Jeypore resident Seikh Gulab Mohammed and first wife Suban Bibi finally reunited following the intervention the Jeypore Family Court.

In 1990, Suban left for her paternal house along with one-month-old boy leaving Seikh Gulab over a family quarrel. Though Gulab attempted several times to bring back Suban, she did not return.

Seikh Gulab, in the meantime, got married. Later in 1998 he was sent to jail for 13 months when Suban filed an alimony case in the Jeypore court. After a trial that continued for 27 years, the case was settled and the family got reunited.

Seikh Gulab said, “I am happy after reuniting with my first wife and have forgotten past issues.” Suban also expressed her happiness saying, “As per the court directive, we reunited.”

Prabhakar Patnaik, public prosecutor and mediator of Jeypore Family Court, said, “We will keep them under our observation and wait to see if all goes well.”
