Couple in Extramarital Affair Commits Suicide

Jharsuguda: In a tragic incident, a couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Machida village here on Thursday, after their families put pressure on them to discontinue their relationship.

According to sources, Ramesh Pradhan of Machida village in the district was involved in an extramarital affair with another married woman Sujata Sunani of Hemagiri village in Sudargarh district.

The duo was spotted by Ramesh’s family members in Machida village. In a bid to get rid of public humiliation, the couple consumed poison.

Soon after, villagers rescued them and sent to Lakhanpur community health centre in a critical condition, where they breathed their last.

Rengali police registered two separate cases and have started investigation into the incident.
