Newly married couple found dead in Khurda

Khurda: A newly-wed couple was found hanging at Khasamal vilage near Jatani in the district on Tuesday evening. The deceased have been identified as Asish Kumar Swain and his wife Mita Barik.

Police have recovered a hand written note, suspected to be suicide note from the house where both Asish and his wife allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in separate rooms.

Asish’s sister had first the bodies and informed the neighbours about the incident.

“We were not aware of the incident. It was only after the sister of the deceased youth raised an alarm we rushed to the spot and saw the bodies,” said a neighbour.

Police sources said that as per the hand written note the deceased Mita had attributed family feud over mobile to be the prime reason behind the incident.

Though exact reason for the death of the couple is yet to be ascertained, police has begun probe into the incident. The bodies are likely to be sent for autopsy after a scientific team carries out an on-spot investigation today.
