Couple dies, son critical in car-truck head-on collision

Athagarh: In tragic road accident, a couple died while their minor son was rescued in a critical condition after the car in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck here near Kajalakana square on NH-55 in Cuttack district today.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been ascertained. Police said the ill-fated vehicle belongs to the Garage chhak area of Bhubaneswar.

The couple along with the 12-year old son was coming from Bhubaneswar in the Santro car (OR-02-Z-3983). A truck from opposite side collided head on following which ill-fated light vehicle lost control and hit with a road side tree.

The couple died on the spot while the minor boy trapped inside the car was rescued by the locals.

Choudwar police and fire tender officials rushed to the spot and took the injured boy to SCB medical college and Hospital in Cuttack.
