Kendrapara: The office of BJD’s Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda responding to threats by ‘anti-socials’ to mar the inauguration of an overhead water tank project set up with MPLAD funds in Buhalo panchayat in Nischintakoili of Cuttak, said some people are upset because they have not been able to collect PC as the MPLAD is out of their control. These anti-social elements are getting protection and support from a corrupt non-Odia officer of 3rd floor, his office stated.

“Everyone is aware that this service officer is interfering in party affairs and unconstitutionally indulging in politics,” it claimed.

In a media release, the MP’s office refuted allegations that local BJD members are not invited to the event citing that invitation letters have been personally delivered. Moreover, the MP’s office claimed that it is not a political but a government programme.

“The overhead tank will solve the drinking water problem of thousands and public is fully supporting such projects,” the release read.

The MP’s office expressed hope “the party president and Chief Minister will recognise the truth of this situation and take corrective measures in interest of the party and the State.”

In any case the general public of Mahanga has become disgusted with such ‘Gundagiri’ and politics and they will teach the concerned person at the appropriate time, the release added.

Earlier today, Sarpanch of Buhalo GP, Sarojini Das wrote to the Cuttack Collector seeking cooperation during the scheduled inauguration of the overhead water tank by the MP on Jan 11 following threats from unscrupulous elements.

Yesterday, members of BJD’s Nischintakoili block in a letter to the Cuttack Collector sought cancellation of permission granted for the programme scheduled on January 11. They have also marked a copy of the letter to Chief Minister, DGP, Home Secretary and Cuttack (Rural) SP.

The letter with signatures of Nischintakoili block BJD president Ramakanta Mohanty and Panchayat Samiti chairperson Sabita Ojha, alleged that Panda is not in touch with local residents and there is resentment among them which is likely to take an ugly shape as the MP is holding the programme with help of anti-party people.
