New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Setting aside a verdict by Orissa High Court, the Supreme Court today ruled that technical education cannot be pursued through correspondence mode.

The apex court has also asked the technical education institutions to refrain from providing education like engineering courses through correspondence.

While pronouncing the verdict, the apex court affirmed the ruling of Punjab and Haryana High Court which had ruled two years ago that a degree in computer science obtained through correspondence mode could not be considered at par with a certificate acquired from regular classes.
