Corporal punishment: Case against school teacher for thrashing primary student

Sundergarh: A primary student sustained injuries after being severely beaten by his teacher at Timana Project Upper Primary School under Bargaon police limits here today.

According to family members of the student, the accused teacher thrashed their kid black and blue while he was sitting in his class.

"I came to know about the incident from his friends. I don't know whether the teacher used any stick to punish my child, Marsina Bada," the student's mother said.

Initially the student was admitted to Ekama primary health care and later shifted to Bargaon Community Health Centre (CHC).

"A medical examination of the child was conducted and doctors described the injuries as simple and blunt abrasions on the back. One of his hand has also swollen and so we had to shift him to the hospital," Sanjay Gandha, a cousin brother of the kid said.

After the family members lodged a complaint at Bargaon police have started a probe into the case.

Meanwhile, the teacher was unavailable to comment anything in this regard.
