Bhubaneswar: A voice of terror echoed at the Capital Hospital here after a man allegedly threatened to shoot the doctor on duty over the pain his wife suffered during her delivery on Monday.

According to sources, the woman’s husband, a police official, had admitted her at the hospital yesterday for delivery. The on-duty doctor along with the nurses was conducting the delivery in the operation theater.

Unable to see his wife writhing in pain, the accused barged into the operation theater and misbehaved with the doctor and nurses. The situation deteriorated further after the police official took out a service revolver from his pocket and threatened them.

"The on-duty doctor was threatened during the operation and was even shown revolver by the man. We did not panic and immediately informed local police along with DCP and ACP. Soon, they reached here and took control of the situation. This type of incident has occurred in other hospitals too," said the director of Capital Hospital, Chittaranjan Das.
