Cop thrashed in public for misbehaving with woman

Khurda: A police sub-inspector had to face the wrath of mob after he tried to arrest one woman of Panchal village under Balianta block in the district on Saturday night.

As per reports,  sub-inspector Sudhir had reportedly gone to the village after receiving reports of tension in the village following a brawl among three families over a road construction work.

However, the situation turned ugly after the cop allegedly tried to arrest a woman in connection with the incident all by himself without the presence of a woman constable.

However, despite several attempts, senior officials could not be contacted on the issue.

In another incident, a police team was also detained by villagers of Padasahi under Astaranga police limits in Puri district for over seven hours.

The team had reportedly gone to the village to probe a dowry related case on Saturday. However, locals opposed the investigation and detained police team.

Later, two platoons of police forces were deployed in the region and the officials were rescued. Moreover, police have arrested one person in connection with the incident.
