Controversy surfaces over freedom fighter’s true heir

Bhubaneswar: Kin of freedom fighter Chakara Bisoi who was felicitated by PM Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar landed in controversy after descendants and locals alleged that the actual heritor of the freedom fighter was not felicitated.

As per allegations, Chakara was childless. He had two brothers Nanda and Sankha whose descendants are living in Bhanjanagar, Jagannath Prasad and on outskirts of Belaguntha block. However, a non-tribal person was felicitated by the PM.

“Why someone else took away his reward fraudulently? He was a tribe,” said Narsingha Bisoi, who claims to be the heir of Chakara.

“They have conspired against us and we should have received the felicitation,” said Sudarshan Bisoi, another claimant.

“Chakara Bisoi’s family stopped with him. Our family is his paternal uncle’s family,” said Netaji Bisoi who was felicitated by the PM.
