Bhubaneswar: Works Minister Prafulla Mallick, who is in the eye of storm following the Bomikhal flyover mishap, today informed that all the officials concerned will be served show-cause notices soon.

Holding the construction company Panda Infra Projects completely responsible for the mishap, he said, “The firm had not adopted necessary safety measures while carrying out the construction work. The workers engaged in the project were also not skilled enough. The company has been debarred from the project."

Earlier in the day, the investigating team submitted its inquiry report to the Minister in connection with the incident.

“The State Government will now take over the construction work of the Bomikhal and Lingaraj overbridges and complete it in two months,” the Minister informed.

“After completion of the projects, a third party will inspect the quality and safety aspects of the structures,” he said adding that new tenders will be floated for construction of overbridges in Jatni and Sambalpur.

On the other hand, President of All Odisha Contractors’ Association, Prabhat Das said, "The contractor is not at fault but its of the department. The truth will come out through a legal probe. All the engineers involved in this should be arrested."

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police today arrested Director of Panda Infra Prashant Padhi in connection with the mishap. Earlier, owner of construction firm Pratap Kishore Panda was arrested a day after the incident.
