Constable attacked by miscreants in Balasore

Balasore: A constable of the police headquarters here was attacked by some unknown miscreants near Galapola here on Monday evening. Police detained six persons in this connection today.

When constable Manoranjan Mohapatra had gone to Galapola in Sahadevkhunta area by his motorcycle in the evening, he had some arguments with three to four persons. It is alleged the miscreants had attempted to kill Constable Manoranjan Mohapatra by silting his throat with a sharp weapon.

Later, some locals rescued the cop from the spot in critical condition and admitted him to a hospital here. Doctors at the hospital said condition of Mohapatra is critical.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is not known, personal enmity is suspected behind it. Investigation is on into the matter, police said.
