Constable arrested for manhandling lady IIC

Puri: The constable who was suspended for allegedly thrashing the lady inspector in-charge (IIC) of Astaranga police station, was arrested today.

The arrested person, identified as Chittaranjan Barik along with Kumbharapada police station constable Chitrasen Pradhan thrashed Astaranga police station IIC Puri Pranati Patnaik who was on night patrolling.

Hearing a commotion last night, the lady cop had gone to the spot where Barik and Pradhan were fighting over a petty matter in an inebriated condition. When she asked about the matter, the duo allegedly thrashed her.

While Barik has been arrested, Pradhan is absconding and police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
