Bhubaneswar: The conjoined twins of Milipada village under Phiringia block of Kandhamal district, who are at the New Delhi AIIMS for treatment, are likely to go through surgeries to be conducted in three different phases.

The twins, Honey and Singh, will be operated by a 16-member team of doctors.

“Around 75 to 80 per cent of tests have been completed. The doctors will conduct surgery in three phases to separate the twins,” said Health Minister Pratap Jena, adding that AIIMS New Delhi is in continuous touch with the hospitals outside the country where doctors have done such surgeries.

It may be mentioned that the State’s Health department swung into action after the OdishaTV (OTV) telecast on the suffering of the conjoined twins and their parents.

Later, the Kandhamal district administration provided a financial aid of Rs 1 lakh and the District Patient Welfare Committee gave Rs 25,000 to the parents of the conjoined twins. Besides, the government has assured the family of providing them with all the necessary help.
