Jeypore: Demanding a complete ban on liquor in undivided Koraput district, Congress leader and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and his supporters continued their dharna for the second day in Borigumma today.

Bahinipati along with party activists and locals staged the protest urging Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to announce a ban on liqour in undivided Koraput district.

The Congress MLA also alleged that no one heeded the demands of local women following which they resorted to take action on their own against illegal sale of liquor in the areas.

He also urged former BJD legislator Rabi Narayan Nanda to join the anti-liquor protest.

Raising doubts on the seriousness of Bahinipati on liquor ban, the BJD leader said, "The Jeypore MLA himself has a drinking habit. First of all, he should quit drinking and then talk of anti-liquor agitation."

"The protest is being held only to get political mileage and there is no seriousness in the protest," he added.

Yesterday, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and former OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik had participated in the anti-liquor dharna.
