Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Prafulla Majhi today said that the party will move a privilege motion against Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera for divulging the details of the supplementary budget ahead of the winter session of Odisha Assembly.

"If the Finance Minister is disclosing the facts to be presented in the Assembly in public then it is an insult of the house. We will definitely bring a privilege motion against him," said Majhi.

Meanwhile, the BJP has said that the party will also move a privilege motion against the minister.

Earlier in the day, Behera had informed that the government will present a supplementary budget of Rs 9,829 crore in the winter session of the Assembly beginning on November 28.

"Emphasis has been laid on departments like Sports, Panchayati Raj and Water Resources and everything will be clear after the next statement of expenditure is presented. A budget of Rs 9,829 crore has been prepared," Behera said.

The supplementary budget to carry out several welfare schemes being implemented in the state was approved by the council of ministers in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

The Finance Minister informed that the budget would cater to the additional expenditure required in the remaining four months of the current fiscal.

It is worthwhile to mention that, Odisha government had presented Rs 1.06 lakh crore budget for the 2017-18 fiscal.
