Bhubaneswar: While both the BJD and the Opposition BJP have locked horns and are bracing up for the upcoming 2019 general elections, the Congress has so far not done nothing significant after the state rural civic polls, earlier last month, spiking discontentment among party leaders.

Congress leader and Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati has said the party has become completely inactive. Activists at grassroots level have lost interest and have become passive. Expressing disappointment over party leadership, Bahinipati said it seems like the party has no leaders and there are none to put that spark among the workers.

“It is being rumoured that our leaders and activists are looking to ditch the party; so before that happens, the leaders must draw strategies for the next course of action within next 8 to 10 days,” he said.

Meanwhile, senior leader and former OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik said the usual course of action like performance review of party post panchayat polls and other organisational works have not been taken in Odisha.

“I think our leaders are busy in Parliament. We are facing leadership crisis. How can the party remain intact,” he questioned.
