Bhubaneswar/Dhenkanal: Young leaders of Congress in Odisha are deserting the party as it has become directionless whereas BJP’s future in the State looks bleak in next two years when false propaganda spread by them will be caught, predicted Dhenkanal MP Tathagat Satpathy on Thursday.

Talking to media after a public meeting in his constituency, Satpathy said, “There is no future of Congress leading to mass desertion of the party in the State. Similarly, people will understand in near future how BJP is cheating them with false promises.”

In his reaction, Biswaranjan Mohanty, Congress spokesperson, said, “The party’s future stands on its illustrious past. Besides, Tathagat’s parents, Debendra Satpathy and Nandini Satpathy, were senior leaders of the party.”

Mohanty suggested Tathagat should examine what problems exist in his party, instead of thinking about the future of Congress.

Holding both BJD and Congress responsible for the present situation in Odisha, Sajjan Sharma, BJP spokesperson, claimed, “In past 17 years, the BJD has been playing gimmicks in collusion with Congress and Tathagat has a role in it.”

He added, “Trouble in the ruling party is evident from the kind of remarks he is making.”
