Cuttack: Effigy of Law Minister Pratap Jena was burnt by District Youth Congress and Student Congress at Link Road in Cuttack today demanding his resignation alleging illegally availing a plot in name of his wife under discretionary quota (DQ).

Congress also raised various other issues, including the admission of his son in Ravenshaw and the attack on SC/ST representative in his constituency.

Talking to media persons, General Secretary of Cuttack District Congress Santosh Kumar Bal said, "A person whose wife's name is involved in a land fraud in Cuttack CDA has been chosen as a minister. We demand his resignation and a high-level enquiry into the case."

On the other hand Jena alleged it is an act to defame him. "It is a baseless allegation. The information is available online and one can see that the property lease I had provided prior to 2009 and 2014 elections, mentions the plot registered in my wife's name."
