Bhubaneswar: The youth wing of Odisha Congress today clashed with police while they were prevented from entering the office of the additional district magistrate (ADM) while protesting against the government’s failure to tackle the unemployment problem in the State.

The Youth Congress activists led by PCC President Prasad Harichandan took out a bike rally from Congress Bhawan which culminated at the ADM office. Senior leaders like Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, Niranjan Patnaik, Suresh Rotray took part in the rally.

The Youth Congress has warned the government of intensifying the stir in the coming days. “If the youths of Odisha are not provided with jobs within a month or the government does not announce pension scheme for the unemployed youths, the Congress would stop wheels in the coming days,” Youth Congress chief Rajat Choudhury said.

On the other hand, BJD questioned the Congress’ ability to tackle the problem during its regime. “How far had the Congress party sorted out this problem when it was in power? This party only believes in indiscipline, which is its culture,” BJD spokesperson Dibyashankar Mishra said.
